WHAT IS BIO-GLITTER MADE FROM? Primarily eucalyptus trees. Cosmetic Bio-glitter is made from a special biodegradable film derived from sustainable and environmentally sourced wood pulp.
IS BIO-GLITTER CERTIFIED BIODEGRADABLE? Yes, BIO-GLITTER is Certified OK Biodegradable WATER by TÜV, which means guaranteed biodegradation in a natural, freshwater environment.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR BIO-GLITTER TO BREAK DOWN? The rate of biodegradation changes with different conditions. For example, a leaf in a swamp is broken down more efficiently than a leaf in the desert. However for a rough indication, Bio-glitter once in nature should break down within 90 days.
HAS ANIMAL TESTING BEEN USED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OR PRODUCTION OF BIO-GLITTER? No, nor are any third parties contracted to undertake any animal testing.
WHAT CONDITIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR BIODEGRADATION TO OCCUR? Heat, water and oxygen are required for effective biodegradation by microorganisms. Bio-glitter is metabolised by micro-organisms which transforms it into carbon dioxide, water and biomass.
DOES BIO-GLITTER DISSOLVE IN WATER? No, Bio-glitter does not dissolve in water because microorganisms found in the natural environment are needed to digest Bio-glitter and transform it into harmless substances (carbon dioxide, water and biomass).
WILL BIO-GLITTER DISSOLVE IN SEAWATER? Yes, the biodegradable film used in Cosmetic Bio-glitter biodegrades in seawater in accordance with the standard ASTM D7081-05.
